Back in the groove again. Finally, a break in the weather has made it possible for me to get into the studio for more that just an hour or two. Some new things are beginning to take shape. My new series of drawings are on ivory rag paper with colored pencil. These are complete pieces in themselves but are also prototypes for larger works. They explore the use of marks to create layers of energy swimming between strings. The strings serve to map out time.

I currently have four drawings in this group -- all in progress. Unlike the pastel drawings which are made from a standing postion, these are small scale and drawn from a seated position. This has a considerable influence on the length of the stroke and the force of the marks.
