Day twenty-four. Another horizontal surprise.
I've been a bit late in posting what I've been doing in this project so I'm looking at the drawings with new eyes. I was surprised when I uploaded this one. The obscuring of marks and then revisiting levels of transparency.

I want to look at some of these techniques in my non digital works. I'm not sure that I can reproduce them but it is interesting to think about tools and methods — thinking about trying some after I complete a series of drawings that I've got on the worktable.

23 of 365

Can't believe I've already made more than thirty drawings or that I've only made so few. I continue to explore mark making and shapes and scribbles.

I'm already into month two and I have many others to post.

I've found some new marks I want to make in my analog drawings. Looking forward to moving things I've discovered in this project to my studio.

So, I'm thinking at the end of the year I'll have a party at my studio or somewhere and sell all of these drawings I've been working on. They are digital so they'll be made as inkjet prints. That will keep the price low. I'll use standard frame sizes.

I'm thinking about whether I will only print one; making it an original or just make unlimited prints by request.

I'm also thinking about making a book of some sorts. Everything at the end is in flux. I'm just concerned about making the drawings.

Another in an attempt to make some horizontal drawings. This is a simple sketch. Trying not to think. Just making marks. Made a couple new tools and was surprised to like it even though it's short on composition its got rhythm.

The interface isn't designed to make landscape/horizontal drawings. Something sorta crazy happens when I try draw lanscape images. I will persist but the tools are all pointed the other way and it makes switching to make different marks difficult.

You would think they could use the accelerometer to switch directions

This is the first effort that I've really made.

It's fun but I need to get use to operating in this direction.

Scribbling thin scratchy lines are wonderful. I can hear the sounds even on the iPhone.

Actually that's the thing I really miss on the iPhone. The texture of the paper and the sound of a drawing implement being drawn across a surface. Here's another from the series of tools and palette I made.

Sweet.

I have the most awesome coffee kit at my studio. A wonderful Cusinart drip pot and grinder. That means making the coffee for when I'm there is as much a pleasure as drinking it.

I captured this shot with my first cup before settling down to do some musing in my studio journal – the private one.

Oh the aroma.

Another drawing where I've used a color background. Floating marks. A dancing cosmos. I made another set of tools. I'm starting to get some new kind of layering here. Also understanding how to create some additional softness.

In the afternoon—in my studio.

Just taking my lunch out of the microwave and looking toward the future.

Spent a great day in my studio this week. I haven't  had as many hours as as usual but I've had some very productive time. I've finished a series of eight drawings. Each drawing has an indigo field in the center. Only three components: indigo matte field, graphite grid, and white ink.

Working with the same palette and tools. Think I may try another.
This is feeling flighty.
