I love pulling out the wood glue and clamps.

Here I am creating two cleats for hanging a large two panel piece to a wall. It's basically a small shelf which will hold the work level.

Two pins will look the artwork to the cleats. The glue is setting and I will return to add some wood screws.

I've been working on a smaller drawing to test a process for my current commission. I've been in the studio for three days and made progress enough to visualize the much larger piece. The rhythm is working and the color patterns work. I can feel the ocean and its undulation.

Now it's time to think about mounting paper or not to make this drawing. The paper as substrate will make drawing on the surface a bit more fluid. I also want to make the marks a bit larger and absorbtion into paper will help the marks dry faster.

The bright white paper stared directly at me yesterday. I took my used blue tape and masked out an area to begin laying doen a background color. I reuse my blue tape, it gives me more organic line.

After sipping a cup a joe I began applying the ground. It took three passes to get a coverage. The two panels are ready to be drilled and bolted together. Then I'll start creating my graphite grid.

So pleased with the results so far. It's almost enough.
