Punch List a single-sheet book

Punch List is one of my new single-sheet books that is in the RiTUAL show in Philadelphia. Often these books help push ahead other ideas for new drawings. This drawing is on an orange Canson paper. The dots are drawn with a Montana Marker. I enjoy the resulting effect they have on different surfaces.

You can see it in RiTUAL at HBHQ / 1241 Carpenter I have several other books. There are 200+ books.

tiny books and asemic writing

I have three fabulous Fabriano tiny books. I have been drawing in this green book for three weeks now and I am almost finished. It is a wonderful object that has a seemingly coded story that can be revealed. Some people call this asemic writing it is an accurate description of the drawing in this book.

Making drawings that are also objects is very interesting to me. Books are a special love.

in the studio : rituals

Working on two book simultaneously.

These are two of the books I am working on for RiTUAL Reading Room. I'm working on several ideas at once. The book on the left is about obliterating and revealing through repetitive mark-making,

The second book is an expression of my measurement work. Each dip of the pen makes a new field of color on each page.

I'm still working on both of these. I'll know more as I draw.

Folding RiTUAL

I've been folding lots of paper into books for the upcoming RiTUAL Reading Room show. I've been pulling out found papers and papers I've saved. This will keep me open to possibities. I'm looking through drawers in my studio and pulling out sheets.

I have many ritials and I can make the actual act of making the books a ritual. Excited to investigate and think about by rituals. By thinking about my acts everyday and the act of making working I discover more of my personal rituals.

In the studio : altered books

I finally began my altered book project. It's been in my thoughts and sketchbook for over two years. My post  process : 9 x 9 new works [ part one] back in 2010 gives a little background. I finally felt I had a way forward. I opened each book to a spread that asked me to ink it. I know this sounds strange but I can't really define all of the reasons why I chose the particular spreads, so I'll leave the reasons out of the process so far.
