Sketchbooks at the ready.

A lovely Red Pine pine cone. So few of them these days it seems. I love their blueish bark.

I'm making drawings influenced by my mountain retreat. This pine cone will work iits way into the drawings.

I've been making larger drawings lately but now have slid in two directions at the same time.

These three drawings use many of the materials I have been experimenting with this year. Watercolor and acrylic paint markers and vinyl paint cover Strathmore watercolor paper almost completely.

I'll blot and press them to eliminate the curl or mount them on museum board. It's fun to make these pieces inspired by some sketchbook drawings.

More to make.

Submitted this to KIND OF BLUE. I've begun making a small series of experimental repetitive mark drawings. It's easy to make some of these where ever I go. There will be a series at Philadelphia Open Studio Tours this year.

June is shaping up to be the last of the spring cleaning for a bit. Many series of drawings have been stored in boxes and the last of the boxes are being glued to store pairs of drawings that have been mounted on boards. I've been able to clear my flat files for more drawings. I'm hoping I'll be able to extend this system to make more drawings easily available for when I have studio visits.

Starting a new sketchbook. I always make some marks on the cover. This is a testing ground for some marks for larger drawings. It's pretty exciting drawing with some new watercolor markers.

I love defining something about what is happening in the sketchbook on the covers.

I have several large panels that I am interested in making drawings with multiple panels.

Ready to continue All Sorts drawings. Started prepping new panels last week.

This series really helps me learn new things about my process. It's great to have the energy to prep the panels and organize myself to expand the series.

I have six small panels to start.

Reflecting on my most recent exhibition of drawings.

When I take my drawings out of the studio and into the world they speak with another voice.

These drawings were all made at the end of 2016 through 2017. Most of my work in the past couple years has been monochromatic. This past 14 months I've imersed myself in vibrant colors. I really love seeing this burst of color.

I'm excited to announce a solo show of my newest drawings.

March 3 – 30, 2018

RECEPTION
Saturday, March 10, 4 – 6 PM

This exhibition features all new drawings. In the past year I have renewed my exploration of color relationships and color saturation, a departure from my last exhibition. These drawings on panels move gently onto new planes.

The constant in my work is the role of process and materials. Methodical, repetitious, and meditative marks are the vocabulary of measurement and probing.
