I started this post in January as I started to reconfigure the stusio for a new year of work. My energy was high and I began preparing a series of 6 x 6 panels for new ALLSORTS drawings.
For some reason I stopped after uploading the studio photo.
I just came back to this today after the year came to a screetching halt due to the Pandemic.
I haven't been to the studio in 4 weeks. That has been difficult. The work I wanted to do requires the studio space. Also the materials I need are there. So I have had to change course and do other work.

Sitting here with the proofs of my catalog so far. Deciding about some final layout changes.
The book is currently 310 pages but may grow a few pages. The frontmatter is in flux. I'm checking over to be sure all the titles and descriptions are accurate. When that is complete I will review the art and be sure the drawing groups have a good relationship.

So far 600 Drawings has been a really fun installation with great visitors and some new collectors. I'm happy to send these three drawings to another artist in Connecticut. I love the selection he made.
I can remember making all three months apart.
600-467 Made with a Red Micropen on White Stonehenge paper. Overlapping at the edge of repetive marks similar to writing creates a surprising texture.

Finally installed all 600 drawings for my February show. The preview sale days were wonderful for talking with visitors and collectors.
I'm trying to remove myself from FaceBook. I've been getting the word out with email campaigns so please join my list.
Looking forward to the weekend hours. Hope to see you.
I'm also working on the show catalog as quickly as I can to have them available early spring.

Last year's experiments that turned out to be 600 drawings. And those experiments are feeding a whole new series of ALLSORTS. Also a new series of works on paper and sculptural drawings.
Here's new work in the studio at the end of last month. I'm be working on them again after hanging and opening my show at HBHQ.
Lots new to share in 2020. It's gonna be a great art year.

Woo hoo! This is the first of my series of limited edition buttons made from scans of my drawings. The button is a detail from drawing 4x4-326 in my 2019 project. Size: 1.25”

600 drawings 4x4 2019, is the result of a drawing project — making at least one drawing each day. This project involved the use of four-inch squares of paper of various weights, colors, and surfaces. I found that many small pieces could be cut out of remnants of paper in my studio.
Year long projects help expand my vocabulary, they create new phrases and expletives. Join me to see the hundreds of drawings I made in this series. All the drawings will be for a sale unframed at an incredibly affordable price.

It was a daunting task and it took almost three weeks to sign. number and bag all 600 drawings.
Maybe I should do smaller year long projects.
Good news there are plenty of inexpensive drawings to purchase and you can even put a few together in a frame. I'll be posting selected images on my website. I also have some available drawings available for purcase at my online store.
You can check what is available at this link.

I've begun the new series of ALLSORTS for 2020. I've gessoed some smaller panels but have begun drawing on some of 12 x 12 inch ones.
This group is a different color set. I'm looking forward to using what I learned from my 4x4 drawing project last year to create some new patterns from repetition. I've already been pleasantly surprised by the results so far.
if you know my work you know that there isn't economy of scale. I don't make larger marks - I make more marks. I hope you'll follow what I'm doing in 2020.

I'm looking at unframed works and some frames I have in the studio. This is one of my pieces on Yupo that looks good in this frame. I usually like more space around the drawing so i'm not sure.
This is one of my Measurement drawings and I hope to have it available at Philadelphia Open Studio Tours in 2020.
