Things have been a bit slow in the studio. I have been working on some new technology projects and haven't had as much time in the studio as I would like. February even with its 29 days this year didn't seem long enough.

This is how warm the light is in my studio these days. This leaf fell from one of the plants that keeps me company in my studio. It landed on my pile of fabriano sketchbooks. Lots of small sketching and framing going on for some shows I hope to have my work in…

This is one of the new drawings I've been working on in January. There are three that are complete. This being the first. These are are cosmology drawings in a more structured way. These bridge the space between cosmic dust and threads of a state of being. The waist grounded to this earth.

This is a pano I pieced together. Wanted to get a shot of the studio for the beginning of the new year. any drawings in progress. Big drawings. Some are 32 x 44 and some are 22 x 32. Oh in inches.
I cleaned everything up after this shot and a series from the opposite direction. Three of the drawings are now finished. I have to manage putting some of the drawings in flat storage.

Here's a shot of Margaret writing a note in the solstice cards. The drawing looked terrific. We were very pleased with the outcome. It's making me think about doing a series or two. These and the letterpress pieces could be great fun and hopefully fund the making of some more art.
Limited edition.

I've been working on our winter solstice cards for Stellarvisions. This is the first time in over a decade that the card will be art or a reproduction of art that I have made. This year the image will be from my cosmology series : cosmic strings. The actual small drawing is done in pencil. The reproduction is on a vellum sheet which is attached to the front of an 80# cream colored smooth sheet.

I finally have posted four pieces that were drawn during the summer. I was investigating making drawings with pencil and sitting down -- a very different experience for me in the studio.

We had a well attended holiday show this year at sherman mills. The artists of b32 organized a sale and I'm happy to say that I unexpectedly sold one of my small plein air pieces. It was a north country drawing done up at the cabin in 2005. I enjoyed talking with the Ellen the buyer about my process and various works that I had hung for the occasion.

I was in the studio yesterday. Had a very productive first day of december. But, this is what it is like in Philadelphia today. This is a very good reason to be home blogging. I miss a fireplace. I've got some candles and incense burning to create an atmosphere that pushes away todays weather. I know that this is just the beginning. I'm looking for fluffy white stuff not pinging ice pellets.
