Delicate balance, Open Studios

Getting ready for Open Studios is always a challenge. Stopping what I'm working on and pulling out work to display for visitors. Oh and generally cleaning and removing things I don't want anyone to touch of see. This year I had a whole bunch of construction material stacked up waiting for me to get arround to sealing the top part of my studio to the outside world.

Finally just to get the materials out of the way we've started the wall. It will be finished before POST.

In the studio : May, more changes

Had to paint this cardboard wall. Just too dark. Also decided I will keep it now until I can afford to build the sliding wall I have designed. So I laid down a layer of primer.

Completed phase one. Next is a layer of flat white. Brightened the studio up considerably. Next is to get a couple of pulleys to fly up some storage and a pegboard divider. Planning on being in the studio tomorrow. I'll move everything out of the way to do some drawings. Paint later in the week.

In the studio : spring cleaning

Got in that reorganizing bug that happens in the spring. I'll be opening the studios to the outside world again so I need to reorganize so it's easy to get the outside breeze. Here's some work organizing the space. Next is to create my screening for the doors. Hoping spring will be here soon. Just bought some new staples for one of my fav guns.

Now I'm planing a construction day. Ready to rock on some hanging storage. Excited to work on it. All this work gets my head in just the right place to make art. My fav organization containers for fasteners.

studio : the energy within

Spent a good deal of saturday working on the studio. The configuration is so different from the last space that it is taking time to get to know it. Lots of new drawers and surfaces to store and complete work that I have to figure out what's best for what.

Still trying to figure out how to get the bikes out of the way. I think I have an idea how to hang one and make it work.

studio: december 2008, new art studio

Yes. I have started work on the new studio space. The glass counter is in place on a series of drawers were I can store almost anything. Things are a bit more ahead than this photo. It's very exciting. Unpacking and organizing supplies for a new space. It's actually fun now. Hope to have a series with the progress in the next few days up on monday. Until then I'm organizing drilling, hanging and assembling.

Visitors will be welcome soon.
