mountain studio : part two

drawing in my al genna sketchbook
the lake, NY, upstae, plien air

My analog holiday.

These are two drawings from the work I made plein air. The work I do in the open is my impressions of the environment I occupy. My vocabulary of marks is more limited. The smaller drawings require a tighter set.

In this series of drawings I select a paper color that sets the tone/atmosphere. Often this means things like bright, reflections, foggy, deep in the trees, sunset, sunrise. The sketchbook is a sampler of Fabriano papers. It's interesting to look at what color paper has the bulk of the drawings. The paper colors reflect the seasons. I guess I'll have to get up again in the summer and winter.

Summer is an easy possibility. But winter is another story. It would require skis or snowshoes.
