No coffee. No key.

Part two of my saturday studio trip.

I arrived at Carpenter Street and came up to the back entrance.

I reached for my carabiner of keys… duh.

I had walked 2.5 miles and no keys.

Moral of this story — coffee first.

Off early. No coffee.

Saturday was a studio day.

I was up early and out the door without having coffee. With such an early start I figured I had some terrific beans at the studio and I'd take some half and half with me. I like having a fresh cup while sitting on the fire escape outside my studio.

First look, new drawings winter twins.

Had a full day working in the studio last week. This is a first look at a new series of ten drawings — winter twins. The drawings are meditations and impressions of the season. Often at this time of year my drawings become mostly black and white. The drawings are minimal. I don't have much more to say right now; I'm still working on them and I don't want to think.

It is important to keep my head clear and trust the process. Keeping that place between sessions of drawings means I can't talk about them. I can't until they are finished.

studio : october, all quiet at 1241

My studio is clean and quiet and looking forward to getting back to work. This is a shot looking in through my new doorway. I was just turning on all the lights and setting out some snacks. The event is a great way to get the studio in shape for some new work. I look to be back in there this week.

The work I selected to present was considered and quiet.

That's over.

Now to start some new drawings.
