Cleaning my studio reveals my addictions. I love using single edged razor blades. I prefer them to scissors or xacto blades; although I do have stocks of both. Everywhere I pick up studio debris I find another straight edged razor blade, aka Gem Blades. It's a danger zone for those who don't know the signs.
I'm crazy about having a sharp one so I'm always opening a fresh blade for fear of creating a tear rather than a clean cut.
Everything in my studio is important to me. Each object holds memories of the work that has been created; they are my art partners. This stool has been in every creative space since 1977. At one time it was a tall stool with a back, but when I stopped working at a drawing table I removed the back. Somewhere along our journey the back didn't travel to the next studio.
These images show the one result in the circular rhythms of creating and waiting. An empty ordered space allows the making of new things. Clarity comes from this sense of order. The process of making is messy.
My studio and I are now in the waiting place.
So much has kept me from getting into my studio. Work, my exhibitions, and curating exhibitions, I've worked on little sketches and I've been reading about art. Just now mark-making. Tomorrow I will have time in my studio. I'll clean the sapce and I hope to tear paper at the very least. I need the energy to make art.
One of my drawings in Measurements. Made with ink and a bamboo pen on three torn sheets of Rives BFK. Trying to think of a name. Right now it is unnamed. Each line was made with one dip of a pen.

These maybe the last two drawings I have in my Rare Earth Series. I made these in the Adirondack Mountains a few years back. If you would like to give them a new home let me know. I'm happy to send them flat and you can frame them as you like.
Today I spent most of the day cleaning up after the mounting matting and framing of work for the Heron Show.
I took all the finished drawings off the walls. Everything has been put away and now I'm ready to begin with something new. Another ink gift, orange sumi.
I have a number of my #drawingaday series already matted and ready to go as gifts. I'm giving some to friends so why don't you?

During Philadelphia Open Studio Tours in October this year I decided to show some of my newest drawings. This included six ink drawings on Yupo synthetic paper that I made in the lead up to my show in June.
I'm so pleased to say that one of these drawings Ascertain has been purchased by Debroah Ward for her collection.
Debroah Ward serves on the Board of Vox Populi Gallery, currently as president. She is an avid arts supporter and collector of local Philadelphia artists.
