My 4x4 project progresses. Some days I can't elp myself and must make more than one. I've added a warm white Stonehenge paper to my stack of cut down squares. I'm making some micro pen drawings with some new pens I was given for my birthday.
I've also been scanning, signing, and numbering the drawings. Each will be put it's own display bag for the show and sale in 2020.

Been getting into the studio more regularly now. I’ve begun a series of 4x6 inch drawings. Had done a few previously and like working with the proportion. Still a great way to make use of cut ends of larger sheets of paper that have been left over from others series.
i really enjoyed laying down some vibrant spring color. These three and three more are drying on my worktable. Looking forward to getting to work on them again tomorrow.
love using my giant Montana markers.

I've been working, framing, and organizing all at the same time in the studio. I'm finally able to spend full days at the studio again which is so exciting.
This is a snap I took at the studio the other day when I arrived. The light is always amazing.
I'm thinking about taking at least one studio picture each time I arrive. This way I can look back and enjoy the timeline.

The horizon disappears
under a blanket of warm mist
My thermos releases a swirl of vapor
joining this obscuring blanket
Muffled sounds comfort me

I'll be opening my storage boxes and flat files. I'll have drawings old and new, large and small, framed and unframed, and small books too. I'm working on the discount pricing now.

Today an old friend returned. Living abroad the past twenty years it is home again ready to return to the studio.
I had almost forgotten how beautiful and comfortable this industrial stool could be. It’s an original. I’ll take it to the studio next week.
I’m already imagining how much more exciting it will be to sit on this stool at my work table. I’ll sit on it when greeting folks for my studio sale, open studio, and my upcoming show of 4x4 inch drawings in early 2020.
I hope you’ll come visit us both.

i know I can be a tease So here’s the latest; I’m putting together a show for my 4x4 Project. The plan is to have at minimum 365 drawings in the show. I may be temped to show more since i’ve been pretty energized. Please join my mailing list to get updates and the invite for the preview and sale. These little ones will be very affordable.

Artist Alyse Bernstein invited me to be part of a demo she As going to print with her intern Anna.
I’ve had a chance to experiment with Gum Arabic as a drawing ink. It was a very interesting experience making four drawings. It’s a substance that requires drawing quickly. It’s important to finish drawing before the gum dries so the whole drawing can be seen.
The results are based on the suspension of the gum in water and how it pools and disperses. I’m looking forward to the results.

Cutting a template for four small drawings I’m making on a metal plate for Alyse Bernstein to print. Being precise is good. Yet another experimental adventure. I have no idea what will happen but this set of four small drawings will reveal what my techniques will do in this environment.
This template helps me leave the correct space around the drawings to work on the press. It also helps me keep fingermarks and hand oils from marking the plate.
